Kedar Ravangave

Kedar Ravangave, Head of Marketing for Consumer and Commercial Banking at Kotak Mahindra Bank, has stepped down from his role and is set to transition into an artificial intelligence transformation position, marking a shift from brand leadership to enterprise AI strategy.

Ravangave confirmed the move through a LinkedIn post, describing the new chapter as an opportunity to work at the intersection of business transformation and artificial intelligence. The development comes nearly two years after he joined Kotak Mahindra Bank from Amazon India, where he led marketing, brand and category initiatives.

During his tenure at Kotak Mahindra Bank, Ravangave was responsible for marketing across the lender's consumer and commercial banking businesses. He worked closely with business teams to strengthen the bank's brand positioning, customer engagement and digital-first marketing initiatives. His appointment in August 2024 was part of Kotak's efforts to sharpen its consumer-centric strategy by bringing in leadership with experience spanning e-commerce, FMCG and technology.

Before joining Kotak Mahindra Bank, Ravangave held senior leadership roles at Amazon India and Marico. Across these organisations, he built expertise in brand strategy, digital marketing, customer acquisition and category growth. His move to Kotak reflected a broader trend of banks recruiting executives with technology and consumer brand backgrounds to drive marketing transformation.

Over the past year, Ravangave also emerged as a vocal advocate of artificial intelligence in marketing. Speaking at industry events, he argued that AI and algorithms can enhance customer engagement and campaign efficiency, but emphasised that creativity and compelling content remain the foundation of effective marketing. He frequently highlighted the role of AI in personalisation while maintaining that human insight should continue to shape brand storytelling.

Under his leadership, Kotak Mahindra Bank expanded its use of AI-driven marketing capabilities to personalise customer experiences and improve campaign execution. The bank experimented with AI-assisted content creation, audience segmentation and customer journey optimisation as part of its broader digital transformation strategy. Ravangave also spoke publicly about the emergence of AI agents, describing them as a step beyond traditional automation by enabling more adaptive and intelligent marketing workflows.

His transition into an AI transformation role mirrors a wider shift taking place across industries, where senior marketing executives are increasingly moving into enterprise AI leadership positions. As organisations embed generative AI and intelligent automation into core operations, executives with experience in customer experience, data-driven decision-making and digital transformation are taking on broader responsibilities beyond conventional marketing functions.

The move also reflects the growing convergence of marketing and artificial intelligence. Brands are increasingly using AI to support customer insights, campaign optimisation, content production and operational efficiency. As a result, marketing leaders with hands-on experience in AI adoption are playing a larger role in organisation-wide transformation initiatives.

Kotak Mahindra Bank has already elevated Jyoti Samajpati as its Head of Marketing and Propositions, a move that signals continuity in the bank's marketing leadership as it continues to strengthen its consumer-focused strategy. The appointment also reflects the lender's emphasis on integrating marketing, customer propositions and premium banking under a unified leadership structure.

While Ravangave has not publicly disclosed details of his new organisation or specific responsibilities, his move underscores the growing demand for executives who can bridge business strategy, customer experience and artificial intelligence. As enterprises accelerate AI adoption across functions, leadership transitions such as these highlight how AI expertise is becoming an increasingly important part of executive roles beyond technology departments.
