Meta Launches Muse Image
Meta has introduced Muse Image, its first in-house image generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, marking a significant step in the company's efforts to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving generative AI market. The launch comes as technology companies continue to compete to deliver more capable AI tools for consumers, creators and businesses.

Muse Image is now available through Meta AI and has been integrated into the company's ecosystem, including Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta said the model is designed to understand complex prompts, combine multiple visual references and generate high-quality images that users can download, edit and share across its platforms. The company also plans to extend the experience to Facebook, Messenger and advertising products through Meta Advantage+ Creative in the coming weeks.

According to Meta, Muse Image introduces several new capabilities aimed at improving the creative workflow. Users can generate images using preset prompts, edit specific areas of an image by sketching desired changes and incorporate photos by mentioning public Instagram accounts within prompts. The model also supports combining multiple reference images into a single visual output while leveraging advanced reasoning to interpret detailed user instructions.

The company said Muse Image has been designed to work alongside Muse Spark, its multimodal AI model introduced earlier this year. Together, the models are intended to power a wider range of AI experiences across Meta's products, including image creation, editing and future video generation. Meta also previewed Muse Video, its upcoming text-to-video model, which is expected to be rolled out to creators at a later stage.

For marketers and advertisers, Meta said Muse Image will enhance creative production through Meta Advantage+ Creative by generating advertising assets with improved product fidelity and photorealistic visuals. The company also highlighted new shopping experiences where consumers can visualise products in customised environments using AI-generated imagery. These features are expected to expand Meta's suite of AI-powered marketing tools available to brands and businesses.

Meta has also introduced a feature called Content Seal, an invisible watermarking system that embeds provenance information into AI-generated images. According to the company, the watermark is designed to remain detectable even after an image is cropped, compressed or resized, with similar capabilities planned for AI-generated videos in the future. A verification tool is also being introduced to help identify whether content has been generated using Meta AI.

The launch represents another milestone in Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's broader AI strategy. Over recent months, the company has significantly expanded investments in AI infrastructure, research and talent as it seeks to compete more aggressively with OpenAI, Google and other leading AI developers. Muse Image is the first media generation model released by Meta Superintelligence Labs, the division established to accelerate the company's next phase of AI innovation.

Industry observers view the launch as part of a wider industry trend in which AI companies are moving beyond conversational assistants to integrated creative tools embedded across consumer and enterprise platforms. As image generation becomes increasingly important for content creation, digital marketing and advertising, competition among AI providers is expected to intensify around quality, usability and platform integration.
