Tech Mahindra Ties Up With SpaceXSI

Indian IT services company Tech Mahindra has entered into a partnership with Elon Musk-led SpaceXSI to integrate Grok artificial intelligence models into enterprise software development and business operations. The collaboration will focus on improving coding productivity, modernising legacy systems and developing industry-specific AI solutions for enterprise clients.

Announced on October 23, 2026, the agreement will enable Tech Mahindra to deploy Grok Build, an AI-powered coding agent, across different stages of the software development lifecycle. The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the partnership.

The collaboration marks SpaceXSI's first reported agreement with a major Indian IT services company and comes as technology providers increasingly integrate generative AI into enterprise operations.

Under the arrangement, Tech Mahindra will use Grok Build to support software engineering activities, including interpreting technical requirements, generating code, assisting with testing and updating existing applications.

The company plans to extend these capabilities beyond individual coding tasks, incorporating AI assistance into broader development processes to improve operational efficiency and support application modernisation.

A key focus will be on legacy technology infrastructure used by large enterprises. Such systems often contain extensive codebases developed over several decades and remain connected to critical business functions, including databases, payment processing and internal applications.

AI-powered development tools can help engineering teams examine existing code, identify system dependencies, prepare documentation and support application migration or redevelopment.

Tech Mahindra intends to apply these capabilities across industries such as telecommunications, banking and financial services, manufacturing and technology.

The company will also undertake employee training and certification programmes to support the adoption of Grok-based tools within its engineering workforce.

The partnership is part of the broader SpaceX Super Intelligence Partner Network, an initiative designed to support companies developing enterprise products, services and integrations using Grok AI.

According to the announcement, more than 130 companies participated in the network's early-access phase. Its launch partners include NVIDIA, Databricks and NTT Data.

The agreement adds to Tech Mahindra's existing collaborations with major technology companies, including Google Cloud and Microsoft, as it expands its enterprise AI capabilities.

The development also reflects a wider trend among Indian IT services providers seeking partnerships with AI developers to integrate emerging technologies into their service offerings.

Tata Consultancy Services has established agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic, while Wipro has also pursued collaborations involving enterprise AI adoption and workforce training.

For enterprise clients, the Tech Mahindra-SpaceXSI partnership will primarily focus on applying AI to software development and the management of existing technology infrastructure.

However, the companies have not announced specific customer deployments, implementation timelines or measurable productivity outcomes from the collaboration.

The agreement comes amid growing interest in agentic AI tools capable of assisting with multiple stages of software engineering and enterprise technology management.
