Swiss deeptech startup Jaipur Robotics has raised €4.3 million, approximately ₹48 crore, in a seed funding round as it looks to expand its artificial intelligence-powered technology for waste-to-energy plants and enter the Indian market.
The funding round was co-led by EquityPitcher Ventures and High-Tech Gründerfonds, with participation from existing investors. The fresh capital will be used to accelerate product development, expand the startup's international sales presence and grow its team. The company also plans to develop new capabilities for waste-to-energy facilities, including crane automation.
Founded in 2024 by Ermes Zamboni and Nikhil Prakash, Jaipur Robotics develops computer vision and AI systems designed to help waste-to-energy plants monitor and manage material stored before it is moved into furnaces.
Waste piles can contain objects such as metal parts, concrete blocks and gas cylinders that can damage equipment or disrupt plant operations. Jaipur Robotics uses industrial cameras, sensors and AI models to identify potentially hazardous or oversized objects and alert operators before they reach the furnace.
The company's technology also analyses the composition and calorific value of waste, providing information that can help operators decide which material should be fed into furnaces to maintain more stable combustion.
Jaipur Robotics says its AI models have been trained on more than 50 million labelled waste images. According to the startup, its waste-detection technology currently analyses more than five million tonnes of waste annually across over 35 facilities in Europe and can detect hazardous materials with accuracy of up to 99%. These performance figures are company-reported.
The startup is now working to extend its technology beyond object detection into crane automation. Rather than replacing existing industrial cranes, it plans to develop a software layer that can integrate with existing plant infrastructure and help automate decisions around moving, removing and feeding waste.
India is emerging as one of the company's next target markets. Jaipur Robotics already has an engineering team in Bengaluru and plans to establish an Indian legal entity by the end of 2026. It is also in discussions with potential customers in the country.
The startup sees an opportunity to deploy its computer vision and automation technology in Indian waste-to-energy facilities, where parts of waste handling and crane operations continue to involve manual processes.
The funding gives Jaipur Robotics additional capital to develop its industrial AI platform while expanding beyond its existing European footprint, with India forming part of its next phase of international growth.
