Ride-hailing company Uber is expanding access to an artificial intelligence-powered workplace platform to more than 30,000 employees globally, introducing training programmes and productivity tools as part of its efforts to integrate AI into everyday business operations.
The rollout follows an initial pilot involving approximately 1,000 employees and will cover teams across operations, finance, marketing and product development. The initiative is aimed at helping employees manage complex workflows, conduct research, analyse information and complete routine business tasks using AI.
The platform is designed to support multi-step activities, including preparing meeting briefs, developing presentations and working with data across different applications. Employees will be able to use the technology to coordinate tasks that would otherwise require switching between multiple workplace systems.
As part of the deployment, Uber will provide dedicated employee training, approved software integrations and an internal library of AI skills. These resources are intended to help staff understand how to use the tools within their respective functions and incorporate them into existing workflows.
The AI platform can connect with commonly used workplace applications, including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. These integrations will allow employees to access relevant information and carry out tasks across connected services.
The expansion represents Uber's first company-wide deployment of an agentic AI platform for knowledge-based work. Unlike conventional AI assistants that primarily generate responses to individual prompts, agentic systems are designed to support workflows involving several connected steps.
Uber's engineering and software development teams will continue using OpenAI's Codex for coding-related activities. The broader workplace rollout is intended to extend AI-assisted capabilities to non-engineering functions, including departments responsible for business operations and marketing.
For marketing teams, the tools could support activities such as consolidating information, reviewing campaign-related data and preparing internal presentations. However, Uber has not disclosed specific marketing applications or quantified productivity improvements resulting from the wider deployment.
The company is also placing emphasis on employee training alongside access to the technology. The combination of workplace tools, approved integrations and an internal skills library is intended to support adoption across departments with different operational requirements.
The development comes as businesses increasingly explore the use of agentic AI systems to automate repetitive processes, assist with information retrieval and coordinate work across enterprise applications.
Uber and OpenAI have indicated that they plan to share further information about employee adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as the rollout progresses.
While the initial pilot involved 1,000 employees, the companies have not disclosed detailed results from that phase or specified a timeline for completing the wider deployment.
The initiative adds to Uber's existing use of AI in software development and extends its application to a larger proportion of the company's global workforce.
