Nikhil Soni, Head of Brand and Marketing, HCL Group

HCL Group has elevated Nikhil Soni to Head of Brand and Marketing, expanding his responsibilities across the organisation's brand-building initiatives, marketing strategy and business growth activities.

The appointment marks a progression in Soni's career with HCL Group, where he has spent more than 11 years working across brand management, digital marketing, content development and product go-to-market strategies.

In his expanded role, Soni will oversee a broader portfolio covering brand, sports, culture, learning and environment. His responsibilities will include strengthening brand positioning, developing marketing initiatives and supporting the group's engagement across different business and audience segments.

Soni announced the development through a LinkedIn post, confirming his transition into the leadership position and outlining the wider scope of his responsibilities.

The new mandate brings together several areas of his previous work, including brand strategy, growth marketing, digital platforms, content and experience-led initiatives.

Before his elevation, Soni served as Assistant General Manager, Marketing (Brand, Growth and Product GTM), where he was involved in brand development, growth initiatives and go-to-market activities.

During his tenure at HCL Group, he has contributed to the expansion of HCL Concerts, the group's cultural initiative focused on promoting Indian classical performing arts. His work has included extending the platform's presence across cities and supporting its audience engagement activities.

He has also been associated with the development of digital content platforms and marketing programmes aimed at strengthening engagement and supporting business acquisition.

In addition to cultural and entertainment initiatives, Soni has worked on marketing activities in the higher education sector, including demand generation, admissions growth and performance-led customer acquisition.

His experience covers both brand-building and measurable marketing functions, including digital content strategy, performance marketing, product positioning and customer engagement.

Before joining HCL Group in 2015, Soni worked with Sharda Group, where he was involved in admissions marketing and strategy. His earlier professional experience includes roles at Citi India, Hexagon Consulting and Francorp Advisors.

He also worked as a software engineer at HCLTech earlier in his career before moving into business and marketing-related roles.

The expanded position will see Soni lead brand and marketing activities across HCL Group's media and entertainment and higher education businesses, with responsibilities covering market positioning and product and service go-to-market initiatives.

His appointment brings these activities within a wider leadership mandate spanning the group's brand, sports, cultural, educational and environmental initiatives.

The elevation follows his progression through several marketing roles within HCL Group and extends his responsibilities from individual brand and growth programmes to a broader portfolio of brand-building activities.
