Google has partnered with former England cricketer and broadcaster Kevin Pietersen for his new 90-episode series, The Switch | Kevin Pietersen, aimed at reshaping how fans engage with cricket content online.
The collaboration positions YouTube as the primary digital platform for the series, while Google Gemini will be used as a creative support tool to help develop and enhance the show’s content. According to the announcement, the partnership highlights Pietersen’s transition from professional athlete to digital creator, with YouTube serving as his “digital home ground” and Gemini supporting the creative process behind the series.
The series is expected to focus on cricket storytelling, fan engagement and digital-first content formats. Through the partnership, Google and Pietersen aim to make cricket content more immersive, accessible and globally relevant for fans.
Speaking about the collaboration, Pietersen said the partnership with Google Gemini marks an important moment in his post-playing career. He said YouTube has become a central space for cricket fandom, where the sport connects with audiences across geographies. He added that Gemini has helped him and his team shape ideas, explore details and deliver fresh content for every episode.
The collaboration also reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence tools in sports content creation. Gemini is expected to assist with ideation, content planning and storytelling, enabling faster production and a more engaging viewer experience.
Pietersen said the larger goal of the partnership is to push the boundaries of how cricket is shared and experienced by fans. He added that the collaboration with Google Gemini is intended to bring audiences closer to the game in a more direct, authentic and global manner.
