Theobroma Foods has appointed Anand Tomar as its Chief Technology Officer, strengthening its technology leadership as the bakery and patisserie chain continues to expand its presence across India.
In his new role, Tomar will be responsible for Theobroma's technology function and support the company's technology-led business transformation. His mandate comes as the brand continues to scale its operations and build digital capabilities to support its growing network and customer base.
Tomar brings around two decades of experience across the food, retail and manufacturing sectors. His career includes stints with companies such as McDonald's, Trent and Marico, where he has worked across technology and business transformation. He also holds an MBA in Information Technology from the Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, Pune.
The appointment follows a recent change in Theobroma's technology leadership. Sanjay Dutta, who previously served as the company's Chief Technology Officer, moved to Third Wave Coffee as CTO in September 2026. Dutta brought experience across enterprise systems, digital and omnichannel platforms, cloud, cybersecurity, payments and data and analytics.
Tomar joins Theobroma at a time when the company has expanded from its Mumbai origins into a pan-India food and retail brand. Founded in 2004 with its first outlet at Colaba Causeway in Mumbai, Theobroma now operates stores across more than 30 cities in India.
The company's portfolio spans brownies, cakes, desserts, chocolates, breads and savouries. As its physical footprint grows, technology is increasingly relevant across areas such as store operations, enterprise systems, digital ordering, customer experience and the infrastructure required to support expansion.
Theobroma's leadership team currently includes Rishi Gour as Chief Executive Officer, Ayush Kapoor as Chief Marketing Officer, Sanjay Jhawar as Chief Financial Officer, Hrishikesh Kashyap as Chief Human Resources Officer and Sukalyan Roy as Chief Operating Officer.
Tomar's appointment adds technology leadership to this team as Theobroma works to strengthen the systems supporting its operations and growth.
The move also reflects the growing role of technology leadership within food service and retail businesses, where digital channels and enterprise systems increasingly operate alongside physical stores. At Theobroma, Tomar's experience across food, retail and manufacturing will be applied to the company's technology foundation as it continues its expansion across the country.
