Allcargo Group Appoints Sourav Dasgupta as CIO to Drive Tech-Led Supply Chain Innovation
Sourav Dasgupta - Chief Information Officer (CIO) Allcargo

In a significant move to bolster its digital transformation agenda, Allcargo Group has appointed Sourav Dasgupta as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). This appointment underscores the company’s strategic intent to modernize operations, optimize logistics, and enhance end-to-end visibility across its global supply chain network.

With over two decades of experience in information technology, enterprise systems, and innovation strategy, Dasgupta has been a part of major transformation programs across leading Indian conglomerates. His previous stints include senior technology leadership roles at Hewitt Associates, Barclays Shared Services, and DXC Technology, where he was instrumental in implementing digital roadmaps across multiple business units. Sourav has been an integral part of the Allcargo Group since 2018 and brings deep industry and domain expertise to this role.

At Allcargo Group, Dasgupta will take charge of shaping and executing the IT vision, overseeing enterprise applications, cybersecurity frameworks, AI integration, and aligning digital initiatives with evolving market needs. The appointment comes at a time when the global logistics and supply chain industry, valued at $9.13 trillion in 2024, is increasingly embracing technologies like AI, blockchain, IoT, and cloud computing to meet demands for efficiency, sustainability, and transparency.

Driving Digital Maturity in Logistics

Allcargo Group, which owns ECU Worldwide, one of the largest LCL (Less than Container Load) service providers globally, has been accelerating its digital agenda in recent years. The company has invested in solutions such as real-time shipment tracking, predictive analytics, and digital freight platforms to enhance customer experience and improve delivery timelines.

According to a 2024 Deloitte report, logistics companies leveraging AI and analytics tools have achieved 20-25% improvements in route optimization and cost efficiency. With Dasgupta at the helm of digital operations, Allcargo is expected to enhance its tech maturity further.

“The logistics landscape is evolving rapidly. My focus at Allcargo will be on building scalable technology ecosystems that empower agility, drive automation, and improve business resilience,” said Dasgupta in a statement. “We aim to harness AI and emerging tech to simplify complexity and create more value for our partners and clients.”

Strengthening CIO Leadership in Supply Chains

Across industries, CIOs are increasingly being seen as value creators rather than just enablers. In logistics and shipping—where margins are tight and time is critical—technology-led efficiencies are vital. From port automation to dynamic warehouse management and integrated TMS (Transport Management Systems), CIOs like Dasgupta play a pivotal role in aligning business outcomes with IT capabilities.

Gartner’s 2025 Global CIO Survey notes that 57% of logistics CIOs are prioritizing automation and predictive intelligence in their transformation pipelines. Moreover, 42% of companies in the sector are expected to increase IT budgets in the coming fiscal year to address growing operational complexities and customer expectations.

Dasgupta’s role will also encompass vendor collaboration, cloud modernization, and fostering a data-driven culture across Allcargo’s various business units. The goal is not just to digitize operations, but to enable real-time decision-making powered by analytics.

Building for the Future

Allcargo Group’s transformation vision aligns with India’s broader digital economy goals. As trade volumes grow and infrastructure initiatives scale, tech-enabled logistics will be a key driver of economic competitiveness. With regulatory emphasis on transparency, ESG reporting, and customer-centricity, IT functions are becoming central to corporate governance and compliance as well.

“Tech is no longer a support function — it is the engine of innovation and scale. At Allcargo, we are investing in the right leadership and platforms to navigate this shift,” said a company spokesperson.

The appointment of Sourav Dasgupta is expected to catalyze further innovation and position Allcargo Group as a forward-looking logistics company, deeply rooted in technology, resilience, and global integration.
