Meta Platforms reported a strong quarterly performance, with growth across its core apps and continued momentum in artificial intelligence, as outlined by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the company’s earnings call.
The company said more than 3.5 billion people now use at least one of its apps daily. While overall daily usage saw a slight dip due to internet disruptions in Iran and platform restrictions in Russia, Meta noted that engagement trends across Instagram and Facebook remain strong, driven largely by video consumption. WhatsApp also continues to expand, including in the US, while Threads is gaining traction within its category.
A key focus of the quarter was Meta’s progress in AI. The company introduced its “Muse” family of models, including its first release, Muse Spark, under its newly established Meta Superintelligence Labs. According to Zuckerberg, the model has already enhanced the capabilities of Meta AI across areas such as visual understanding, health, shopping, and content creation, contributing to a rise in user adoption.
Meta is positioning AI agents as a central part of its long-term strategy. The company is developing both personal and business agents designed to help users achieve individual goals and enable businesses to better engage customers. Early testing of business-focused AI tools has shown significant growth, with weekly interactions increasing tenfold since the start of the year.
The company also plans to integrate its AI models more deeply into its recommendation systems. This includes moving beyond pattern-based targeting toward a more detailed understanding of user intent and content relevance, with the aim of improving both user engagement and advertising outcomes.
To support these efforts, Meta has raised its capital expenditure outlook, citing higher infrastructure and memory costs. The company is investing in a mix of custom silicon developed with Broadcom, alongside chips from AMD and Nvidia, as part of its broader compute strategy.
On the hardware front, Meta highlighted continued growth in its AI-powered glasses, including new product iterations developed with partners such as Ray-Ban. The company said daily usage of its glasses has tripled year-on-year.
Zuckerberg said the company remains focused on improving efficiency while enabling faster product development through AI, as it continues to invest across its apps, infrastructure, and emerging platforms.
