French fashion technology company Lectra has launched Apogy, an AI-native product development platform designed to connect fashion design, patternmaking and production workflows within a shared digital environment.

Unveiled on September 15, Apogy combines artificial intelligence, fashion-specific AI agents and product data to support apparel companies from early-stage design through product development and preparation for manufacturing. Lectra is positioning the platform as a way for fashion businesses to reduce fragmented workflows and improve collaboration between creative and technical teams.

The cloud-based platform brings together 2D patterns, 3D virtual samples, fabrics, components and technical specifications into continuously updated digital products. Teams can work from the same product information while monitoring development progress and identifying potential bottlenecks.

Artificial intelligence is embedded across several stages of the workflow. Apogy's Generative Designer allows designers to generate and explore photorealistic concepts using prompts, sketches or images. For patternmakers, the system can search existing product and pattern data to identify potential starting points for new designs, while also supporting pattern adjustment and earlier estimates of material consumption.

The platform also connects digital development with physical prototyping. Apogy can automatically generate prototype markers, while its Art Print capability creates digital marker files for printing directly from patterns containing artwork. This is intended to reduce manual exchanges between different stages of product development.

Lectra says Apogy can reduce product development time by more than 30%. The figure is a company-reported performance claim and may vary depending on an organisation's existing systems, workflows and implementation.

The company is also positioning AI as a tool for preserving technical knowledge within fashion businesses. Existing product and pattern data can be reused by newer employees, while built-in guidance is intended to help transfer expertise from experienced patternmakers. Lectra maintains that human expertise remains important for areas including garment construction, fitting and technical development.

Fashion companies are increasingly digitising product development as they face pressure to shorten development cycles, manage larger volumes of product data and reduce waste. Lectra says Apogy's shared data environment can help teams make decisions earlier and potentially reduce unnecessary physical prototypes and material consumption.

Early adopters referenced by Lectra include Italian fashion group Oniverse and Irish sportswear manufacturer O'Neills, which are using the platform as part of their product development operations.

With Apogy, Lectra is extending AI beyond fashion trend analysis and content generation into the technical processes that determine how garments move from creative concepts to production-ready products.
