The former WhatsApp India business messaging and payments head will oversee Meta's enterprise strategy across Asia-Pacific, focusing on AI-powered business tools and customer engagement.
Meta has appointed Ravi Garg as Managing Director, Enterprise Business for Asia-Pacific (APAC), expanding his responsibilities beyond India as the company looks to strengthen the adoption of its business messaging and artificial intelligence solutions across the region.
In his new role, Garg will oversee Meta's enterprise business strategy across APAC, focusing on expanding the use of business messaging platforms, Meta Business Agents and Muse APIs among organisations seeking to integrate AI into customer engagement and operational workflows.
The appointment follows Garg's tenure as Country Director, Business Messaging and Payments at WhatsApp India, a position he held from July 2021 to September 2026.
During this period, he was responsible for developing and expanding WhatsApp's business messaging and payments operations in India, including building its commercial ecosystem and strengthening the platform's role in business-to-consumer communication.
His expanded mandate will involve working with enterprises across different APAC markets as businesses explore AI-enabled tools to manage customer interactions, automate services and improve digital engagement.
Meta has been broadening its enterprise technology portfolio beyond its established advertising and messaging businesses. Its offerings include AI-powered business agents and developer interfaces designed to help organisations incorporate artificial intelligence into customer-facing applications.
The company introduced its Meta Enterprise Platform in September 2026, bringing together technologies such as Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code for enterprise and developer applications.
Garg's appointment comes as Meta seeks to extend the reach of these offerings across Asia-Pacific, where businesses operate across different languages, markets and digital ecosystems.
Before joining WhatsApp, Garg spent approximately 13 years at Microsoft, holding senior leadership positions across sales, strategy, business planning and channel management.
He served as Senior Director at Microsoft from July 2008 to June 2021, gaining experience in commercial operations and technology business development.
Earlier in his career, he was Chief Operating Officer at gaming company Nazara Technologies between January 2007 and June 2008.
He also served as General Manager at Sify from January 2001 to January 2007 and previously worked with Parle Agro as Senior Brand Manager.
With more than two decades of experience across technology, digital services, payments and consumer businesses, Garg brings a combination of enterprise sales and platform development experience to his new regional responsibilities.
The leadership change comes as technology companies expand their enterprise AI portfolios to address demand for automated customer service, conversational commerce and AI-assisted business operations.
For Meta, the appointment places its business messaging and AI offerings under a regional leadership mandate as the company continues developing its enterprise presence across Asia-Pacific.
Garg will be responsible for advancing these priorities and supporting the adoption of Meta's enterprise solutions across the region.
