The CRM platform has introduced spending caps, flexible credit purchases and subscription adjustments as businesses increase their use of AI-powered tools.
HubSpot has announced new pricing and billing controls designed to help businesses manage their software expenses as the adoption of artificial intelligence and usage-based services increases across its platform.
Announced on October 15, 2026, the changes introduce account-level spending limits for HubSpot credits, flexible payment options and greater control over subscription allocations. The updates are aimed at helping marketing and operations teams manage costs associated with AI-powered features and automated workflows.
Under the revised system, HubSpot customers will be able to set limits on credit consumption to reduce unexpected charges when usage exceeds their monthly allocation.
The company has introduced a default spending cap set at 50% above a customer's monthly credit allocation. Administrators can adjust this threshold according to their organisation's budget requirements.
HubSpot is also expanding its credit purchasing options. Customers can choose between fixed monthly credit packages and pay-as-you-go billing, allowing businesses to accommodate changes in usage without committing to a single purchasing structure.
The changes come as companies increasingly deploy AI agents and automated workflows, where consumption-based pricing can make monthly software expenditure more difficult to forecast.
“Nobody should have to miss out on getting the most out of AI because they don’t know what the bill will be,” said Jon Dick, Chief Customer Officer at HubSpot, while announcing the changes.
Alongside the AI spending controls, HubSpot is introducing additional flexibility in subscription management.
Customers can exchange unused software seats for credits or switch between eligible seat categories during an existing contract. The feature is intended to help organisations adjust their subscriptions as team structures and operational requirements change.
HubSpot is also introducing hard limits on marketing contact tiers. These controls are designed to prevent automatic, unbudgeted upgrades when customer databases expand beyond their existing allocation.
The announcement follows a broader pricing overhaul introduced by HubSpot for new customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on October 1.
Under that model, HubSpot replaced its traditional product-based pricing structure with unified platform access offered through Starter, Professional and Enterprise editions.
The regional pricing structure combines platform editions, user seats and usage credits, while replacing conventional marketing contact tiers with pricing based on email-send volumes.
However, the latest billing changes are separate from the EMEA pricing overhaul and focus on providing greater control within existing subscription arrangements.
For marketing and operations teams, the new controls provide additional options for managing software budgets while using AI-enabled services.
The development reflects the growing role of consumption-based billing in enterprise software, particularly as AI functionality becomes integrated into marketing automation, customer relationship management and operational processes.
HubSpot has not specified a separate rollout timeline for every billing feature or disclosed additional charges associated with the new controls.
Word count: approximately 475 words. Based on MarTech's October 15, 2026 report. The distinction between HubSpot's latest billing controls and its separate EMEA pricing overhaul has been retained.
