L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has entered into a strategic partnership with industrial AI company Cognite to develop and deploy artificial intelligence and data solutions for asset-intensive industries, as enterprises look to move AI projects from experimentation to operational use.
As part of the partnership, LTTS has established a dedicated Cognite Center of Excellence and certified an initial group of more than 50 engineers. The two companies will jointly develop industry-specific solutions for sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), consumer packaged goods and fast-moving consumer goods, mining and industrial manufacturing.
The collaboration will operate through LTTS' Sustainability segment and combine the company's engineering, manufacturing operations and asset lifecycle management expertise with Cognite's industrial AI and data capabilities.
The companies plan to focus on applications such as AI-powered industrial systems, digital twins, predictive maintenance and operational intelligence platforms. These technologies are increasingly being used by industrial enterprises to connect operational data with engineering workflows, identify potential equipment issues and improve asset performance.
The partnership has already moved into a customer deployment. LTTS and Cognite are working with an unnamed global top 10 oil and gas company to digitise its mechanical-integrity process. The project aims to replace a manually operated process with a contextualised and scalable digital workflow, allowing engineers to access relevant information more efficiently, identify risks faster and support efforts to reduce downtime and safety incidents.
LTTS also plans to integrate Cognite's capabilities with its EIOne framework as part of the collaboration.

He said the partnership would combine LTTS' engineering expertise with Cognite's capabilities to address industrial challenges and help enterprises move AI initiatives into production.
Girish Rishi, CEO of Cognite, said the company's growing presence across industries complements LTTS' domain and engineering expertise as AI becomes more embedded in manufacturing operations.
The partnership comes as industrial companies explore ways to use AI alongside operational and engineering data rather than deploying the technology as standalone applications. For LTTS and Cognite, the dedicated centre and the first customer project provide a framework for taking jointly developed industrial AI solutions into production across multiple asset-intensive sectors.
