Infosys has expanded its development centre in Indore with a new 330,000-square-foot Software Development Block, strengthening its technology delivery capacity in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and other digital services.
The new Software Development Block, or SDB-2, has been inaugurated at the company's campus in Indore's Super Corridor. The expansion adds to Infosys' presence in Central India as the IT services company looks to tap regional technology talent while building capabilities for evolving enterprise requirements.
Infosys' Indore centre currently employs more than 3,300 professionals serving global clients across banking, financial services and insurance, retail, life sciences and manufacturing. The expanded facility will support work across artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud, application development and cybersecurity.
The company also plans to strengthen its engagement with Madhya Pradesh's academic and technology ecosystem. This will include skilling programmes and institutional engagement with IIT Indore, IIM Indore and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya.
The inauguration was attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Indore Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani and MLA Manoj Nirbhay Singh Patel. Infosys was represented by Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka, Executive Vice President Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar and Senior Vice President Niladri Prasad Mishra.
Sanghrajka said the expansion reflects Infosys' continued investment in talent, innovation and digital capabilities. According to the company, the larger Indore operation will help it access the region's talent pool while strengthening capabilities across AI, cloud and digital technologies for global clients.
The new building has also been developed in line with Infosys' environmental and energy-efficiency commitments. It incorporates low-energy cooling systems, smart building automation, rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling. The facility will include flexible workstations, training facilities and wellness centres.
The expansion comes as Indian technology services companies continue to build capabilities around AI, cloud and cybersecurity while broadening their operations beyond the country's largest technology hubs. For Infosys, Indore provides another regional base from which it can combine technology delivery with access to graduates and experienced professionals in Central India.
The company has not disclosed how many additional employees will be accommodated in the new block or provided a specific hiring target linked to the expansion.
