Max Ku, Aleph

Ku brings over three decades of digital media and advertising experience, including previous leadership roles at Spotify and Tripadvisor.

Global digital advertising company Aleph has appointed Max Ku as Business Head for Pinterest in Singapore and export markets, strengthening its leadership team responsible for the visual discovery platform's advertising business in the region.

According to a report by KARV Tech Insider, Ku brings more than 30 years of experience in digital media and advertising, having previously held leadership positions at Spotify and Tripadvisor. He is also the founder of Lumisprout Works Pte Ltd, a boutique consultancy.

Ku publicly shared details of his appointment after spending nearly a month in the position. During this period, he has been familiarising himself with Pinterest's role in consumer discovery, brand engagement and purchasing decisions.

In his new role, Ku will oversee Aleph's Pinterest business across Singapore and export markets, working with advertisers and agencies seeking to incorporate the platform into their digital marketing strategies.

His responsibilities will include supporting brand partnerships and helping advertisers understand how Pinterest can be used to engage consumers during the planning and product discovery stages.

Pinterest operates as a visual discovery platform where users explore ideas, products and services across categories such as fashion, beauty, home improvement and lifestyle. Its advertising proposition is centred on reaching audiences as they research interests and consider potential purchases.

Ku has highlighted consumer intent as an important characteristic of the platform, observing that users frequently visit Pinterest with specific plans or interests rather than solely to consume content.

This behaviour provides advertisers with opportunities to reach potential customers before they make purchasing decisions.

He has also emphasised the importance of discoverability in digital advertising, particularly the need for visual content to be supported by strategies that help it reach relevant audiences.

Ku's previous experience across digital media platforms is expected to inform his engagement with brands and agencies operating in Singapore and other markets covered by his new remit.

Aleph works with digital platforms to support advertising access and commercial operations across international markets. Its business connects advertisers with technology and media companies, helping brands navigate advertising opportunities across different digital ecosystems.

The appointment comes as advertisers continue to assess the role of discovery-led platforms within their broader media strategies, particularly as consumer journeys increasingly involve multiple digital touchpoints.

For brands, platforms such as Pinterest provide an additional channel for connecting product visibility with consumer interests during the research and consideration stages.

The development also reflects the importance of regional leadership in managing advertising partnerships and supporting platform adoption across markets with differing consumer behaviours and commercial requirements.

Aleph has not disclosed specific revenue targets or expansion plans associated with Ku's appointment.

His appointment adds senior digital advertising experience to Aleph's Pinterest operations as the company continues working with brands and agency partners across Singapore and export markets.
