Google Brings Dreambeans AI App to India

Google has launched Dreambeans, an experimental artificial intelligence-powered application, in India, offering personalised daily story collections based on users' interests and activities. The app, developed by Google Labs, is available to users aged 18 and above on Android and iOS devices.

The rollout introduces support for 14 languages, including several Indian regional languages, as Google looks to make AI-powered content discovery accessible to a wider audience.

Dreambeans is designed to bring together information relevant to individual users without requiring them to browse multiple applications or continuously scroll through content feeds.

According to Google, the application creates daily collections of stories based on users' interests, preferences and information from selected Google services. These collections can include recommendations for places to visit, arts and crafts activities, upcoming local events and other subjects relevant to individual users.

The platform also allows users to explore stories in greater detail, save content for later and share recommendations with others.

Unlike conventional content feeds that primarily display information through continuous scrolling, Dreambeans organises selected information into personalised collections intended to support daily discovery.

The application can draw information from Google Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Google Photos, Google Search and YouTube, depending on which services users choose to connect.

This integration enables the platform to generate recommendations using information available across different Google products, rather than relying on a single source of user activity.

Google said users can select the applications they want Dreambeans to access. The company has also introduced feedback options through which users can indicate whether the generated stories are relevant to their interests.

The feedback is intended to help improve the quality and relevance of future story collections as the experimental application develops.

For its India launch, Dreambeans supports 14 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese and Nepali.

The multilingual rollout is aimed at allowing users to access personalised content in languages they are familiar with, extending the application beyond English-language interactions.

Dreambeans is available for download through the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.

The launch adds another experimental AI application to Google's consumer product portfolio, which already includes Gemini and AI-powered features across Search, Photos and other services.

By combining information from multiple Google applications, Dreambeans introduces a different approach to personalised content discovery, with daily story collections replacing the continuous feed format commonly used by digital platforms.

However, Google has not disclosed user adoption targets, commercial plans or a timeline for moving Dreambeans beyond its experimental stage.

The India rollout will allow the company to gather feedback from a multilingual user base as it continues developing the application's personalisation capabilities.
