BITS Pilani Backed AI EdTech Startup SortMyPrep

AI driven education technology startup SortMyPrep has raised $350,000 in a pre seed funding round as it looks to expand its personalised learning platform, strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities and accelerate user growth across India's competitive test preparation market.

The funding round was led by early stage investors and angel backers, with participation from entrepreneurs and alumni associated with BITS Pilani. The startup said the fresh capital will be used to enhance its AI powered learning engine, expand its engineering team and scale operations across competitive examination categories.

Founded by BITS Pilani alumni, SortMyPrep is developing an AI first learning platform designed to personalise preparation for students appearing for competitive examinations. Rather than offering a standardised curriculum, the platform analyses individual learning behaviour, identifies knowledge gaps and recommends customised study plans that adapt to each learner's progress.

According to the company, the platform uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised practice sessions, evaluate performance and recommend targeted improvements. By continuously analysing user interactions, the system aims to optimise learning paths while helping students spend more time on areas requiring improvement instead of following fixed study schedules.

The founders said the objective is to make exam preparation more adaptive and data driven. They believe AI can reduce inefficiencies in traditional coaching models by delivering customised guidance at scale while improving student engagement and learning outcomes.

The funding comes amid rising investor interest in AI native education technology startups. As generative AI becomes more widely adopted, edtech companies are increasingly integrating intelligent tutoring systems, personalised assessments and adaptive learning platforms into their products to improve student experiences and academic performance.

India's competitive examination ecosystem remains one of the country's largest education markets, with millions of students preparing each year for engineering, medical, management and government recruitment examinations. This has encouraged startups to develop AI powered solutions capable of delivering personalised learning without the high costs associated with traditional classroom coaching.

SortMyPrep said the newly raised capital will primarily support product development, artificial intelligence research and engineering talent acquisition. The company also plans to expand its content library while improving recommendation algorithms that power personalised learning experiences.

In addition to strengthening its technology platform, the startup aims to grow its user base through strategic partnerships and digital expansion. The founders believe AI driven personalisation will become an increasingly important differentiator as students seek flexible and outcome focused learning experiences.

Industry analysts note that artificial intelligence is reshaping the education technology sector by enabling platforms to move beyond static video courses toward intelligent learning assistants capable of providing continuous feedback and personalised recommendations. AI powered assessment, automated doubt resolution and adaptive content delivery are emerging as key areas of innovation across digital education.

The investment also reflects continued confidence in India's startup ecosystem, particularly among companies building AI first products with applications across education, healthcare and enterprise technology. Early stage investors are increasingly backing startups that combine domain expertise with proprietary AI capabilities to address large domestic markets.

For SortMyPrep, the latest funding marks an important milestone in its growth journey. The company expects the investment to accelerate product innovation while expanding access to AI powered personalised learning for students preparing for competitive examinations.

As demand for intelligent education platforms continues to grow, startups that can combine adaptive learning, data driven insights and scalable AI technologies are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of digital education in India.
