AI Travel Startup Fora

AI-powered travel agency platform Fora has raised $60 million in a new funding round, taking its valuation past the $1 billion mark and making it one of the latest startups to achieve unicorn status in the travel technology sector. The funding will be used to expand the company's artificial intelligence capabilities, enhance its advisor platform and support international growth.

The investment round was led by Thrive Capital, with participation from existing investors including Forerunner Ventures, Heartcore Capital and Insight Partners. The latest capital infusion brings Fora's total funding to more than $100 million since its launch in 2021.

Founded by former luxury travel executives Evan Frank and Henley Vazquez, Fora operates a technology-enabled travel agency that combines AI-powered tools with a network of independent travel advisors. The company provides software that helps advisors plan trips, manage bookings, communicate with clients and access supplier information through AI-assisted workflows.

Rather than replacing human travel consultants, Fora positions artificial intelligence as a productivity tool that enables advisors to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time delivering personalised travel recommendations. The company said AI is integrated throughout its platform to simplify itinerary planning, surface destination insights and automate routine operational processes.

According to Fora, the platform now supports more than 14,000 travel advisors, making it one of the fastest-growing travel advisor networks in North America. The company said its advisor community has expanded rapidly as more professionals seek flexible, technology-enabled careers in the travel industry.

The newly raised capital will primarily be invested in expanding Fora's AI platform. The company plans to introduce additional automation tools that can assist advisors with itinerary generation, customer communications, supplier recommendations and travel research. These capabilities are expected to reduce planning time while improving the overall client experience.

Fora also intends to accelerate hiring across engineering, product development and artificial intelligence teams. In addition, the company plans to expand its international presence by entering new markets and strengthening partnerships with hotels, airlines and travel suppliers.

The funding reflects growing investor confidence in AI-powered travel technology. Across the industry, companies are increasingly using generative AI to improve trip planning, customer service, dynamic pricing and travel discovery. Technology providers believe AI can reduce operational complexity while delivering more personalised experiences to travellers.

At the same time, several travel companies are adopting hybrid models that combine AI automation with human expertise. While AI can efficiently process information and generate recommendations, many consumers continue to value human advisors for complex itineraries, luxury travel, destination expertise and personalised service.

Industry analysts note that travel has emerged as one of the most active sectors for generative AI adoption. Major online travel agencies, airlines and hospitality companies have introduced AI-powered assistants, itinerary builders and conversational booking tools over the past two years as competition intensifies across digital travel services.

Fora's latest funding round highlights investor interest in platforms that use AI to augment professional expertise rather than replace it. By combining automation with human advisors, the company aims to modernise the traditional travel agency model while improving efficiency for both travel professionals and customers.

As AI continues to reshape the travel industry, companies that successfully integrate intelligent automation with personalised service are expected to play an increasingly significant role in how travellers research, plan and book their journeys.
