Prodigi

Dubai-headquartered AI video production company Prodigi Connect, which operates production facilities in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's Lokanima to develop animated content using artificial intelligence-powered production workflows.

Lokanima is the creative venture associated with Indonesia's Singhasari Special Economic Zone. The partnership will focus initially on Fun Cican, an established Indonesian children's entertainment property, combining AI-based production capabilities with local creative expertise.

The agreement was signed on October 24, 2026, during a bilateral India-Indonesia creative economy event in Jakarta.

Under the collaboration, Prodigi Connect will provide its AI-native production pipeline, workflow methodology and quality standards. Lokanima will contribute local creative direction, access to Indonesian production talent and relationships associated with the intellectual property.

The companies aim to use AI-assisted production techniques to address the costs and timelines traditionally associated with character animation.

Fun Cican, a children's entertainment property featuring music and characters, has been part of Indonesia's entertainment landscape for approximately a decade.

An earlier attempt to develop the property into animated content was discontinued because conventional animation production required substantial financial and production resources.

According to the companies, Prodigi Connect has already produced an approximately one-minute animation sequence as an initial demonstration of the proposed production approach.

Lijo Ittoop, Founder of Prodigi Connect, said the economics of animation production had changed with the introduction of AI-enabled workflows.

"Somebody tried to animate this character once and had to stop, because it cost too much and took too long. That maths has changed," Ittoop said.

The collaboration will combine AI-based production tools with human-led storytelling, creative direction, character performance and quality control.

The production model is intended to involve Indonesian creative teams in developing the content, with Prodigi Connect providing technical and production support.

Founded in 2018 as a creative agency, Prodigi Connect transitioned towards AI-native production in 2024. The company currently works across advertising, branded content, live-action production, animation, computer-generated imagery and product visualisation.

According to the company, its production capabilities support brand and content campaigns across more than 20 countries.

The Lokanima agreement extends these operations into character-based intellectual property development, although advertising and commercial content production remain its primary business activities.

Character animation presents technical requirements involving visual consistency, synchronised dialogue, movement and continuity across multiple scenes.

The companies intend to address these requirements through a combination of automated workflows and human creative oversight.

The signing ceremony was held during an India-Indonesia creative economy event attended by representatives from both countries.

Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, opened the event, while Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya delivered remarks. India was represented by Bijay Selvaraj, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy.

The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the agreement or a timeline for the commercial release of the animated content.
