NTT DATA Business Solutions has inaugurated a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, expanding its technology footprint in India as the company looks to strengthen its global delivery capabilities and support growing demand for enterprise digital transformation, cloud services and artificial intelligence.
The new facility, launched in partnership with Proven Tech, marks another step in NTT DATA Business Solutions' strategy to scale operations across India while tapping into emerging technology hubs beyond traditional metropolitan centres. The company said the centre will support customers worldwide through consulting, software engineering, cloud transformation and SAP focused digital services.
Operations at the Visakhapatnam centre have commenced with approximately 300 professionals, including more than 200 employees recruited locally. The company plans to significantly expand the workforce over the coming years, with long term plans to scale the centre to nearly 3,000 employees as business demand grows.
The facility was inaugurated by Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament Mathukumilli Sribharat, highlighting the city's growing role in India's technology and innovation landscape. Industry leaders and government representatives described the investment as a milestone in strengthening Andhra Pradesh's position as an emerging destination for Global Capability Centres.
According to NTT DATA Business Solutions, the new GCC will focus on delivering digital transformation services across enterprise resource planning, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, automation and business applications. Teams based in Visakhapatnam will collaborate with global delivery centres to support multinational clients across industries.
The expansion reflects the continued evolution of India's Global Capability Centre ecosystem. Once established primarily for back office functions, GCCs are increasingly serving as strategic hubs for product development, engineering, AI innovation and enterprise consulting. Global technology companies are investing in new centres across Tier 2 cities to access skilled talent while supporting regional economic development.
Visakhapatnam has emerged as one of the country's fastest growing technology destinations, attracting investments in IT services, digital infrastructure and data centres. Improved connectivity, a strong engineering talent base and government initiatives to promote technology investments have encouraged multinational companies to expand operations in the city.
NTT DATA Business Solutions has steadily expanded its India presence in recent years. The company operates multiple delivery centres across the country and views India as a strategic market for supporting its global customer base. Earlier this year, company executives indicated that the Visakhapatnam centre would continue to grow as part of its broader India expansion strategy.
The latest investment also aligns with NTT DATA Group's broader emphasis on AI driven innovation and Global Capability Centres. Earlier this year, the company launched its GCC Innovation Acceleration Program to help multinational organisations establish and scale innovation hubs in India while accelerating enterprise AI adoption.
Industry analysts expect India's GCC sector to maintain strong momentum as enterprises increase investments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and digital engineering. Demand for highly skilled technology professionals continues to drive expansion into new cities, allowing companies to diversify talent acquisition while strengthening regional technology ecosystems.
For NTT DATA Business Solutions, the Visakhapatnam centre represents both a delivery hub and an innovation centre that will contribute to the company's long term global growth strategy. By expanding operations in India, the company aims to strengthen its ability to deliver enterprise technology solutions while supporting customers navigating increasingly complex digital transformation initiatives.
The launch also reinforces the broader trend of multinational technology firms choosing India as a preferred destination for innovation led Global Capability Centres, with AI, cloud and enterprise applications emerging as key areas of investment.
