Wipro’s iSkill AI Agent

Wipro’s AI-powered learning agent, iSkill, has crossed 7,500 employee conversations as the IT services company expands the use of artificial intelligence to personalise internal learning and upskilling across its workforce.

The conversational agent has also recorded more than 100 active unique learners. Integrated with Wipro’s AI Academy, iSkill is designed to help employees identify relevant learning programmes based on factors such as their roles, functions, existing skills and previously completed certifications.

Wipro established its AI Academy around three years ago with the aim of making more than 240,000 associates AI-ready. The platform currently offers 144 persona-based learning paths as well as hundreds of AI and cloud courses sourced from thousands of programmes available through partner platforms.

The volume of available learning material, however, created a challenge around course discovery. Employees had access to multiple learning paths but could find it difficult to determine which programmes were most relevant to their individual roles and development requirements. The earlier process depended largely on searching through the catalogue and reviewing individual course descriptions.

Development of iSkill began in December 2025. The agent operates through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Teams, allowing employees to interact with it through their existing workplace environment.

After an employee signs in using their Wipro Teams identity, a Microsoft Fabric Data Agent accesses authorised internal information covering areas such as role, band, function and skills, along with completed AI and cloud certifications. A Power BI semantic model retrieves the relevant information, while the agent searches Wipro’s AI Academy catalogue hosted on SharePoint to recommend suitable learning programmes.

Wipro has also introduced controls around access to employee information. Access to iSkill is restricted through a validated security group, while role-based controls in the Power BI model determine what information individual users can access. Managers can use the system for role-related planning but are restricted from accessing an individual employee’s learning information.

The company has also reported broader activity across its AI learning programmes. According to Wipro, 96% of AI Advanced+ courses at its AI Academy were completed between January 2025 and March 2026. This figure covers the Academy’s wider learning activity and should not be attributed solely to iSkill, whose development began later in that period.

Surya Prakash Mohapatra, General Manager and AI Learning Head, Talent Skilling at Wipro, said the role-focused recommendations have given the learning and development function greater confidence that employee learning is aligned with business priorities.

The deployment reflects Wipro’s use of conversational AI as a navigation layer over its existing learning infrastructure, shifting course discovery from manual catalogue searches towards personalised recommendations based on employee roles and existing capabilities.
