Fireflies.ai Eyes Indian AI Startups

Khosla Ventures-backed Fireflies.ai is looking at potential acquisitions in India as the AI meeting assistant company seeks to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its presence in one of its key international markets.

The company is evaluating AI-native startups operating at the application layer, particularly businesses developing workplace automation and voice AI products. Fireflies.ai co-founder and CEO Krish Ramineni said the company is interested in businesses that can broaden its capabilities as it evolves into a multi-product company.

The acquisition focus includes relatively young AI-first companies as well as voice AI startups that could complement Fireflies.ai's existing technology. However, the company has not disclosed potential acquisition targets or a timeline for any deals.

The move comes amid growing merger and acquisition activity in India's artificial intelligence ecosystem. According to Venture Intelligence data cited in the report, India recorded 25 AI startup M&A deals valued at $980 million until August 6 this year. This has already surpassed the $624 million recorded across 33 deals during the whole of 2025.

Ramineni pointed to India's technology talent and the ability of local entrepreneurs to build products while operating under capital constraints. Indian startups have increasingly looked at measures such as open-source models, self-hosting and infrastructure optimisation to manage the cost of developing and operating AI products.

Alongside its acquisition plans, Fireflies.ai is introducing India-specific pricing as it looks to expand adoption of its platform in the country. The company is rolling out a lower-priced plan for Indian customers, described as a Fireflies Lite offering, which is expected to cost around one-third of its standard pricing.

Fireflies.ai currently offers paid subscriptions ranging from $10 to $39 per seat per month when billed annually. The India-specific offering follows a broader trend of global AI companies adapting pricing for the country's large but price-sensitive user base.

The company has raised $19 million from investors including Khosla Ventures, Canaan Partners and Coelius Capital across multiple funding rounds. Fireflies.ai is not currently planning another fundraise, although Ramineni indicated that the company could consider raising capital in the future if required to support strategic acquisitions in markets including India and the US.

Fireflies.ai crossed a $1 billion valuation in June 2025. Its platform uses AI to transcribe, summarise and analyse meetings, while the company has been expanding beyond meeting notes towards automating workflows and post-meeting actions.
