Manufacturing technology startup SwitchOn has raised $8 million in a pre-Series B funding round led by IvyCap Ventures, with participation from SIG Tattva and Trifecta Capital. The fresh capital will support the company's international expansion, research into next-generation Physical AI technologies and the scaling of its go-to-market operations across global manufacturing sectors.
Founded by Aniruddha Banerjee and Avra Banerjee, Bengaluru-based SwitchOn develops AI-powered machine vision systems that automate visual quality inspections on manufacturing lines. Its flagship platform, DeepInspect, combines edge-native computer vision with factory equipment to identify defects during production, helping manufacturers improve product quality while reducing manual inspection efforts.
According to the company, DeepInspect can detect defects measuring below 150 microns while inspecting more than 1,200 products every minute. SwitchOn also claims the platform delivers detection accuracy exceeding 99 percent, enabling manufacturers to identify quality issues in real time and reduce production losses associated with defective products.
The company said the newly raised funds will be directed towards expanding its presence in international markets, strengthening research and development for Physical AI systems and enhancing commercial operations globally. The investment comes amid rising interest in AI applications that operate directly on industrial equipment and manufacturing infrastructure rather than through software-only environments.
SwitchOn's technology is currently deployed across more than 170 production lines in over 60 manufacturing facilities spanning 10 countries and four continents. Its customer base includes companies such as Unilever, Bosch, Maruti Suzuki and ALPA, serving industries including consumer goods, automotive, electronics and pharmaceuticals.
Commenting on the fundraise, Co-founder Aniruddha Banerjee said the company aims to build infrastructure for autonomous quality intelligence that can help manufacturers move closer to zero-defect production. He added that the latest investment aligns with SwitchOn's long-term vision of making AI-driven quality inspection accessible across factory floors worldwide.
Vikram Gupta, Founder and Managing Partner at IvyCap Ventures, said SwitchOn is addressing a critical challenge in modern manufacturing through its Physical AI platform. He noted that the company's technology, execution capabilities and expanding international customer base position it to play a significant role in the next phase of industrial AI adoption.
The funding reflects growing investor interest in Physical AI, a category that focuses on deploying artificial intelligence within machines, robotics and industrial environments. Unlike conventional enterprise AI applications that primarily process digital information, Physical AI enables systems to perceive physical environments, make autonomous decisions and interact with manufacturing equipment in real time.
The investment also comes as manufacturers increasingly adopt AI-powered inspection systems to improve quality assurance, minimise waste and address labour shortages. Advances in computer vision, edge computing and industrial automation have accelerated adoption across production-intensive industries seeking higher efficiency and consistency.
With the new capital, SwitchOn plans to deepen its presence in overseas markets while expanding its Physical AI platform to support manufacturers pursuing greater automation and data-driven quality control across global production networks.
