Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence company Sarvam AI has appointed Sashikumar Sreedharan, former Managing Director of Google Cloud India, as President and Chief Business Officer (CBO), as the company expands its enterprise operations and sovereign AI capabilities.
The appointment comes as Sarvam AI strengthens its leadership team to support the commercial adoption of its AI models, infrastructure and applications across enterprises, developers and government organisations.
In his new role, Sreedharan will oversee the company's business operations and support its expansion in the enterprise AI market. His responsibilities will focus on scaling commercial activities and strengthening the adoption of Sarvam's technology offerings.
Sreedharan joins Sarvam AI after serving as Managing Director of Google Cloud India, a position he assumed in July 2025. Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer of Google Cloud Asia-Pacific from September 2023 to July 2025.
During his tenure at Google Cloud, he was involved in expanding cloud adoption and sovereign cloud capabilities for organisations with requirements related to data security, control and infrastructure management.
Before joining Google, Sreedharan served as Managing Director of Microsoft India's Enterprise Commercial Business between February 2018 and September 2023. He has also held the position of CEO and Managing Director at Happiest Minds Technologies.
His earlier professional experience includes leadership responsibilities at CSC, SAP, IBM and Wipro Infotech, covering enterprise technology, sales, digital transformation and business operations.
Following his departure from Google Cloud India, the company appointed Amit Kumar, Managing Director of its Digital Natives Business, as interim India head.
Sreedharan's appointment follows Sarvam AI's recent funding milestone. In June 2026, the company raised $234 million in the first close of its planned $300 million Series B funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion.
The funding round included HCLTech as a lead strategic investor, alongside participation from existing investors, including Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners.
Founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI develops artificial intelligence models and applications focused on Indian languages, enterprise requirements and domestic AI infrastructure.
Its technology portfolio includes voice agents, speech recognition, translation, document digitisation and enterprise AI applications. The company is developing a full-stack sovereign AI platform intended to provide organisations with greater control over their AI systems and data.
Sarvam AI has also outlined plans to develop a trillion-parameter AI model targeting applications in coding, cybersecurity, scientific research and simulation.
The company recently brought AI researcher Devendra Chaplot, a founding member of Mistral AI and Thinking Machines Lab, on board as an adviser.
Sreedharan's appointment adds enterprise technology and commercial leadership experience to Sarvam AI as it expands beyond model development into infrastructure, business applications and institutional adoption.
