The second edition of the Fintech Premier League (FPL) has kicked off across Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, bringing together professionals from India's banking, financial services and fintech sectors for a multi-city cricket tournament organised by Startup Policy Forum (SPF) and Signzy.
The tournament features 38 teams representing 34 organisations, with more than 570 players participating in 82 matches. Following its inaugural season, FPL has expanded its geographical presence to three major fintech hubs, bringing together companies that typically interact through business partnerships, industry forums and policy discussions.
Designed as an eight-a-side tennis-ball box-cricket competition, the league provides a platform for professionals from financial institutions, fintech startups and technology companies to engage outside their regular business environments.
The participating organisations represent several segments of the financial services ecosystem. Banking participants include Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, HSBC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Yes Bank.
The lending and credit segment is represented by Axis Finance, Flexiloans, Kissht, Indifi, Lendingplate and Jio Credit. Companies from payments and fintech infrastructure include PayU, NPCI, Benow and Mosambee.
Other participants include Signzy, Equifax, Protean, Xflow, Stable Money, Zerodha and ZET, representing areas such as digital identity, financial infrastructure, wealth management and digital financial services.
Shweta Rajpal Kohli, President and CEO of Startup Policy Forum, said the tournament provides an opportunity for industry professionals to interact beyond conventional business settings.
"Fintech is a closely connected industry, but most interactions between companies happen around business, policy and industry conversations. The Fintech Premier League (FPL) creates a different setting for people across the ecosystem to meet and compete," Kohli said.
Arpit Ratan, Co-founder and Business Head at Signzy, said the second edition reflects the response received during the tournament's inaugural season.
"The first season showed us that there was genuine interest in the format, and Season 2 is significantly larger, with 38 teams across three cities," Ratan said.
The competition will take place in three stages: the Regional League Phase, Regional Knockout Phase and National Championship. Regional matches are being conducted across the North, West and South zones, with qualifying teams progressing to the national finals in Mumbai on October 31, 2026.
Startup Policy Forum is a not-for-profit industry alliance representing more than 75 Indian technology companies across fintech, deeptech, consumer technology and other emerging sectors.
Signzy provides AI-native digital trust infrastructure, including identity verification, customer onboarding, fraud detection and compliance solutions for banks, non-banking financial companies and fintech enterprises.
The tournament brings together organisations operating across India's financial technology ecosystem, with the national championship scheduled to conclude the second season later this month.
