Prakash Patel, CISO

Baroda Global Shared Services Ltd (BGSSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda, has appointed Prakash Patel as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Privacy Officer, strengthening its leadership across cybersecurity, data privacy and digital resilience.

Patel brings more than 17 years of experience across information security, cybersecurity governance, privacy, IT infrastructure, risk management and regulatory compliance. In his new role, he will be responsible for strengthening BGSSL's information security and privacy framework as the organisation manages technology-enabled operations for its parent bank.

BGSSL confirmed the appointment and said Patel's experience would contribute to building secure, resilient and future-ready operations. His mandate is expected to span cybersecurity governance, data protection, privacy, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Patel also confirmed the move, describing the appointment as a new responsibility and indicating that his focus would be on contributing to a stronger and more secure organisation.

The appointment comes as cybersecurity and privacy responsibilities continue to gain importance across banking and financial services. The expansion of digital banking, cloud infrastructure, automated processes and data-driven operations has increased the need for organisations to strengthen security governance and maintain compliance across technology environments.

For shared services organisations supporting banks, cybersecurity leadership also plays a role in protecting operational systems and sensitive information while ensuring that technology processes remain aligned with regulatory requirements.

BGSSL was established in 2017 and operates from GIFT City in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The company handles high-volume processes for Bank of Baroda and works across areas including banking operations, account management services, foreign exchange trade operations, loan processing, banking automation and contact centre operations.

The appointment combines the responsibilities of CISO and Privacy Officer, bringing information security and data privacy under Patel's leadership. This reflects the increasing overlap between cybersecurity, privacy, risk and compliance as organisations manage larger volumes of digital information and increasingly interconnected technology systems.

With Patel joining its leadership team, BGSSL will focus on strengthening cybersecurity governance, privacy practices and digital resilience across its operations. His appointment also adds experienced security leadership to the organisation as banking operations become increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure and technology-led processes.
