Bain & Company has appointed Gurpiar Sibia as Expert Partner and India Head of its artificial intelligence (AI) practice, according to multiple industry updates and company-linked announcements.
In this role, Sibia will lead Bain’s AI initiatives in India, working with clients to design, build, and implement AI-driven strategies and solutions. His mandate includes helping organisations translate AI capabilities into measurable business outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and scale digital transformation efforts.
Sibia brings experience across artificial intelligence, cloud, and data-led enterprise transformation. Prior to joining Bain, he was associated with Google, where he held senior leadership roles in cloud, data, and AI. Most recently, he served as APAC Presales Practice Lead for Cloud, Data and AI, working with enterprises and digital-native organisations across India and the Asia-Pacific region on large-scale, AI-led transformation programmes.
Before his tenure at Google, Sibia spent over a decade at Cisco, where he held multiple leadership roles, including Head of System Engineering for Enterprise India and SAARC. In this capacity, he led technology sales and enterprise engagements across sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, retail, and the public sector.
Earlier in his career, he was associated with Aricent, where he worked in big data and presales consulting, building early expertise in data-driven enterprise solutions.
Industry observers note that consulting firms are continuing to expand their AI and advanced analytics capabilities as client demand grows for support in navigating increasingly complex technology ecosystems. Organisations are moving from pilot AI projects to large-scale deployments, creating demand for both strategic advisory and execution capabilities.
Bain & Company has been investing in its global AI practice through talent, partnerships, and tools aimed at supporting end-to-end transformation programmes. Sibia is expected to work closely with the firm’s global teams to bring international practices to clients in India while adapting them to local market conditions.
His appointment comes amid broader momentum in AI adoption across India, driven by enterprise digitalisation, increasing data availability, and advancements in areas such as machine learning and generative AI.
Bain has not disclosed further details regarding the scale of its AI practice expansion in India.
