Stability AI, the company behind the Stable Diffusion image generation model, has raised $76 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding under its current leadership to $232 million.
The latest round brings together investors from the entertainment, gaming and technology sectors. New investors include Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. Existing backers including Coatue, Greycroft, Eric Schmidt, Sean Parker and Kadmos Capital also participated.
Stability AI said the fresh capital will be used to expand its creative production product suite, strengthen applied research and grow its professional services business. The company currently develops generative AI models and tools spanning image, video, audio and other creative applications.
The investor mix also reflects Stability AI's growing ties with the entertainment industry. The company partnered with Universal Music Group and Electronic Arts in October 2025, followed by Warner Music Group in November. These collaborations involve the co-development of generative AI tools for creative workflows rather than solely distributing existing AI products.
Stability AI has increasingly positioned its technology around professional creative use cases across music, gaming and entertainment. The company's Stable Diffusion models established its presence in AI-generated imagery, while its portfolio has since expanded into areas including video and music generation. Its Stable Audio 3.0 family of audio generation models was introduced earlier this year.
Prem Akkaraju, who became CEO of Stability AI in June 2024, said the participation of entertainment companies in the funding round supports the company's strategy of developing generative AI tools alongside creators, studios and rights holders.
The latest funding also comes as questions around copyright, licensing and the use of protected material for training generative AI models continue across the industry. Stability AI has faced litigation from Getty Images over its image generation technology. In the UK, the company largely prevailed in a copyright case brought by Getty, while a related case in the US remains ongoing.
Stability AI was founded in 2019 and gained wider attention following the release of Stable Diffusion in 2022. Under its current leadership, the company has moved further towards commercial creative applications and partnerships with established entertainment businesses.
With record labels, gaming companies and technology investors participating in the new round, Stability AI is now looking to expand its creative AI products while deepening its relationships with industries whose content and intellectual property are increasingly central to the development and deployment of generative AI.
