Venttup Secures $3 Million Funding

Indian engineering and precision manufacturing startup Venttup has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by Rainmatter, the investment arm of Zerodha, and Unicorn India Ventures. The company plans to use the capital to expand its manufacturing capabilities and adopt artificial intelligence for business-to-business sourcing and supplier management.

The funding will support the expansion of Venttup's engineering team, investment in precision manufacturing infrastructure and development of rapid prototyping capabilities. The company also intends to integrate AI-based tools to improve supplier intelligence and operational efficiency.

Founded by Sandeep Nair, M. Wasim Ankli and Joseph Panakkal, Venttup operates a Manufacturing-as-a-Service model that combines engineering design, component development, testing, validation and contract manufacturing.

The startup works with a network of Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture precision components and subassemblies for industrial customers.

Its services cover the development and localisation of components used across sectors including energy transition, data centres, defence, aerospace, space, mobility, infrastructure and electronics.

As part of its expansion plans, Venttup is establishing a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. The facility will support precision machining, turning, sheet metal production and rapid prototyping, allowing the company to manage additional stages of the manufacturing process.

The company said its revenue increased fivefold to ₹10 crore in the financial year 2025–26, following its earlier seed funding round in 2024. It also reported adding more than 15 large customers over the past year and developing a business opportunity pipeline of approximately ₹30 crore.

Venttup was previously backed by Unicorn India Ventures in its seed round and was incubated at Kerala Startup Mission.

The company's latest investment comes as Indian manufacturing businesses seek to strengthen domestic production capabilities for specialised industrial components and reduce dependence on external supply chains.

Venttup's proposed use of AI focuses on procurement-related activities, particularly identifying suppliers, evaluating manufacturing capabilities and improving coordination across its production network.

These applications are intended to support the company's existing engineering and manufacturing operations rather than replace the physical production process.

The startup's business model allows customers to provide designs or component requirements, following which Venttup coordinates engineering, supplier selection, prototype development, quality checks and production through its manufacturing partners.

The company is targeting customers requiring precision components for technically demanding applications, including aerospace, defence and emerging energy technologies.

The latest funding will enable Venttup to increase its in-house engineering and manufacturing capacity while continuing to work with its network of external suppliers.

The company has not disclosed a timeline for completing its Bengaluru facility or the commercial deployment of its planned AI-based sourcing tools.

The investment marks Venttup's next funding stage as it seeks to expand its industrial manufacturing operations and introduce AI-supported processes into supplier management.
