Infosys and ABN AMRO Expand Partnership

Infosys and ABN AMRO Bank have extended their strategic collaboration as the Dutch lender looks to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence, simplify its technology landscape and support its growth plans through 2028.

Under the renewed engagement, Infosys will work with ABN AMRO to modernise its IT environment and scale AI across the organisation. The partnership will focus on improving operational efficiency, reducing complexity and operating costs, and supporting the bank's broader technology transformation.

The two companies have an established relationship spanning multiple areas of banking technology. The latest agreement moves the partnership further towards enterprise-wide AI adoption, as financial institutions increasingly look to move artificial intelligence from individual pilots into core business and technology processes.

Carsten Bittner, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at ABN AMRO Bank, said the renewed collaboration would help the bank simplify and modernise its IT landscape while accelerating the responsible adoption of AI. He added that the engagement is expected to improve operational efficiency and customer value while reducing complexity and costs.

The expanded partnership builds on technology modernisation projects previously undertaken by the two companies. Infosys has worked with ABN AMRO on areas including lending and enterprise content management.

In one such initiative, ABN AMRO and Infosys developed a generative AI-powered layer for the bank's enterprise content management environment. The system uses retrieval-augmented generation and Microsoft Azure AI and data services to support automated classification, contextual information extraction and retrieval of complex documents. Infosys has said the project helped create an estimated €64 million in annual efficiency savings.

The companies have also worked on modernising ABN AMRO's lending processes through the implementation of the nCino platform, consolidating multiple legacy systems into a unified environment intended to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Their relationship also extends to Stater, the mortgage administration company in which Infosys acquired a 75% stake from ABN AMRO in 2019. ABN AMRO retained the remaining 25% stake.

The renewed agreement comes as Infosys expands its focus on enterprise AI, particularly in regulated industries such as banking and financial services. The IT services company has been positioning AI as part of broader technology transformation programmes that combine data, software engineering, process modernisation and responsible AI controls.

For ABN AMRO, the expanded collaboration is tied to its ambition of achieving sustainable and profitable growth through 2028. The bank is seeking to use technology and AI not as standalone initiatives, but as part of a wider effort to simplify its operating model and modernise the systems supporting its banking operations.
