Don Jeter, Chief Marketing Officer, Abnormal AI

Cybersecurity company Abnormal AI has appointed Don Jeter as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), as the company looks to expand its global presence and strengthen its positioning in the enterprise artificial intelligence security market.

In his new role, Jeter will oversee Abnormal AI's global marketing operations, including brand positioning, marketing strategy and communication of the company's behavioural AI capabilities. He will report directly to Evan Reiser, Founder and CEO of Abnormal AI.

The appointment comes as Abnormal AI expands its approach to enterprise security, moving beyond email protection to address threats involving digital identities and artificial intelligence systems.

The company uses behavioural AI to identify unusual activity across enterprise environments. Its technology is designed to recognise deviations from established patterns of behaviour, helping organisations detect potentially malicious activity that may not match previously identified cyber threats.

According to Abnormal AI, this approach has become increasingly relevant as businesses integrate AI-powered applications and autonomous agents into their operations.

Reiser said the company's security strategy focuses on identifying abnormal behaviour rather than relying exclusively on known threat indicators.

He explained that the approach was initially developed for email security before being extended to identity protection and, more recently, AI-related security requirements.

As organisations give AI systems greater operational responsibilities, the company is focusing on whether activity across user identities and AI applications follows expected patterns.

Jeter joins Abnormal AI with experience in business-to-business marketing and cybersecurity technology.

He most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at Torq, a cybersecurity company, where he worked on brand development and marketing initiatives.

Before joining Torq, he held senior marketing positions at Symantec and Veritas Technologies.

He also led global marketing at cloud commerce platform Pax8 during a period when the company's annual recurring revenue increased from approximately $5 million to $1 billion, according to Abnormal AI.

His appointment is intended to support the company's efforts to communicate its technology offerings to a broader enterprise audience and strengthen its position in the cybersecurity market.

Commenting on his appointment, Jeter said the increasing use of AI was creating additional security challenges as attackers adopted similar technologies to develop more sophisticated methods.

He noted that distinguishing legitimate activity from malicious behaviour was becoming more complex as AI systems gained wider adoption across organisations.

Jeter said Abnormal AI's behavioural approach provided a foundation for addressing these emerging security requirements.

The company is positioning its technology around the protection of enterprise environments where human users, digital identities and AI systems increasingly interact.

Abnormal AI has not disclosed specific marketing investment plans, geographic expansion targets or organisational changes associated with Jeter's appointment.

The leadership change comes as the company seeks to broaden awareness of its behavioural AI capabilities and expand its role in enterprise cybersecurity.
